Dr. Rahim Jalili, in a message, congratulated the arrival of the auspicious Eid al-Ghadir:

On the 18th of Dhu al-Hijjah, in the tenth year of Hijra, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) connected the returning caravan of prophethood from the Farewell Pilgrimage to an everlasting moment—a place where, by God’s command and the revelation of the verses of proclamation and perfection, he raised the hand of Ali (peace be upon him) above all, appointing him as the leader of the ummah. Ghadir marks the completion of religion and the pact of loyalty among the true companions of the Prophet; a moment when the divine promise echoed eternally in the immortal phrase: “Of whomsoever I am the master, Ali is also his master.”

Today, even as our hearts are weighed down by the grief of the martyrdom of innocent compatriots, our brave commanders, and this land’s scholars, we hold firmly to the truthful promise of God and, under the protection of the Master of Ghadir, our hope for His grace and victory is renewed. Surely, with the support of the Commander of the Faithful, Ali (peace be upon him), and by invoking “O Ali, son of Abu Talib,” the proud nation of Iran will triumphantly overcome this great trial.

Eid al-Ghadir, the greatest Eid of the family of Muhammad (peace be upon them), is a blessed occasion…
